The Wilson-Smith Golf League (WSGL) is a thriving community of people recovering from Alcohol and/or Substance Use Disorder who bond over their shared love for the game of golf. WSGL started in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 2001 with 11 sober golfers. They have now grown to over 130 active members and expanded to Chicago, Atlanta, Nothern Texas and are also working with PGA Reach Foundation. The WSGL has created a unique niche in golf by providing a fellowship and community for individuals to blend the principles of recovery with the rules of golf. Members’ lives have truly been changed and enhanced through the work of WSGL.
The Wilson-Golf League’s mission is to support and promote addiction recovery for alcoholics, addicts, and/or their families through the structured participation in the game of golf. Their vision is to create a national network of sober golf leaves in cities across the United States, thereby creating a safe environment to participate and compete in the game of golf. The WSGL was designed to create and foster a safe, healthy environment for those in recovery to enjoy the benefits of golf. WSGL provides many opportunities to their members by coordinating services, education, communication and information to a network of sober golf leagues.
As a league member, you gain access to a supportive community dedicated to both golf and recovery. Prestigious tournaments are held on renowned golf courses across the nation. Beyond the game of golf, WSGL fosters camaraderie by providing a network of like-minded individuals on a shared path to wellness.
